Spiritual Growth
As the wise men sought Jesus, seek wisdom from God
Providing spiritual growth for your children is a 24-hour/day task (see quote below). However, there are devotional times during the day when you and your child focus especially on God. The first phase of this is having devotional times WITH your children. The second phase is encouraging them and training them to read the Bible and pray for THEMSELVES and also to memorize the Bible. This section provides information to help you in both phases of devotional life. Just click on the titles of the books/information below to investigate ordering it and having it delivered to your home.
Train a child in the way he should go
These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NASB

Josh McDowell's Youth Devotions
By Josh McDowell and Bob Hostetler
This book is adapted from the fundamental principles given in the book “Right from Wrong” also written by Josh McDowell and Bob Hostetler. This yearlong devotional book, which you can read with your children, is a daily adventure in making right choices. Each month has a special theme or themes, which cover the same topic in a number of different ways, so that children really get the point.

Every devotion presents the following:
A Bible passage to read, a story to relate the topic to everyday things you child can relate to, a reflect section and a prayer.

This is a great devotional book to read along with your children and help point them to reading the Bible on their own.

The Topical Memory System
By Navpress Staff
PROBLEM: How do you teach your teenager to memorize the Bible, and maintain the discipline to continue doing it.

The Topical Memory System (TMS) is a great way to learn how to memorize key portions of the Bible. It is set up with a simple effective method for teaching you how to memorize Bible verses. It comes with cards printed with verses that you can carry with you. This enables you to utilize spare moments by reviewing the Bible verses that you have memorized. The cards are in all major modern versions of the Bible. The memory verses are set up in five key areas of practical basic Christianity: How to live the life as a new Christian; How to share your faith (simple gospel outline); God’s resources; Be Christ’s disciple and Grow in Christ-likeness. Within each of the five topics are 12 verses.

After you have learned a certain number of verses, the TMS teaches you how to review and keep accurate and updated on the verses you already know while continuing to learn new verses. After you have learned these 60 verses, you will have a solid foundation for your Christian life. More than that, you will have learned how to memorize and will be able to build on the base of 60 verses with other verses from the Bible that God wants you to memorize.
